It is difficult to put into words how much I enjoyed brunch at The Good Egg. Let me start with the surroundings…

Boom Burger – Portobello Rd, London
“This isn’t just a great new burger restaurant; it’s a little piece of Jamaica in the heart of London’s carnival district. So, why wait for three days in August to party when you can have something to sing and dance about all year round?”
The good people behind Boom Burger have hit the nail on the head; my ‘fish boom’ burger (pan fried red snapper with rocket, escovitch sauce and jerk mayo) was out of this world tasty. I’d go so far as to say it was even more exciting than the actual Notting Hill carnival. Continue reading
Spielburger – Hampstead, London
Having just returned from dinner at the brand new burger joint in Hampstead, I can confidently say that Spielburger will do for burgers what Spielberg has done for movies; provide pretty darn good ones. Continue reading
🐂 The Bull and Last 🐂 – Parliament Hill, London
If you like good meat, you’ll like The Bull and Last. The whole place screams meat; from the name to the stuffed bulls on the walls and the rustic manly decor. It also has a very warm and inviting atmosphere.
I had lamb rump with artichoke purée whilst my chums both had onglet steak with chips. There’s no such thing as well done here, got to be a man and have it rare. 💪 Continue reading
The Shed – Notting Hill, London
As is the case with most new places these days, The Shed is all about sharing. We were advised to order two dishes each so we all picked our most appealing two and left it up to the waiter to tell us if we had any duplication. Continue reading
Caravan – King’s Cross, London
“She’s a bit late in the game, it’s been around for ages!” I hear you protesting. Yes. Yes it has, but I hadn’t been until this morning so for any other latecomers… Continue reading
Bibimbap – Charlotte St, London
Bibimbap means mixed rice in Korean. It is a bowl of warm white rice often served with vegetables, sliced meat and a raw or fried egg. It is also the name of a relatively new Korean restaurant in Charlotte St (with another branch in Soho) that specialises in… bibimbap, surprise surprise. Continue reading
Dock Kitchen – Ladbroke Grove, London
I changed jobs at the beginning of the year, and in doing so I said goodbye to swanky Marylebone and hello to trendy West London. Naturally, the first thing on my agenda was after work dining/drinking spots, of which I soon discovered there are many.
Last night I went to Dock Kitchen, a converted wharf building overlooking the Grand Union Canal in Ladbroke Grove. This unusual site is also home to Tom Dixon’s (the furniture designer) shop so the restaurant is fully decked out with his furniture; I believe we were even sitting on Tom Dixon chairs while we ate. Continue reading
Vitho/La Central – La Tzoumaz, Switzerland
I am currently approaching the end of my first weekend away skiing. I’ve been with friends in a small ski resort called La Tzoumaz; a ten minute ski ride away from Verbier (much longer by car) and a two hour train ride from Geneva. Continue reading
Bincho Yakitori – Soho, London
My experience at Bincho Yakitori was underwhelming. It didn’t help that there was a dog at the table next to us, not by itself obviously, but its owner did little to keep him close so it may as well have been. I did my best to ignore it (if it isn’t clear, I’m not an animal person) but couldn’t when it sneakily crept up on my leg. Continue reading
